Tuesday

As Christmas is nearing Abigail's gift frenzy is increasing. She already bought all her presents to the family now she is in the process buying gifts to her classmates and friends.

Every day there is a new crisis because she forgot this one or that one. Somehow these girls have a way of finding out who will buy them and what and that means reciprocity. In her class they also did a Secret Santa thing and that meant she had buy a gift to someone she didn't originally intended to. Fortunately these are not expensive presents but every day there is a new gift crisis.

Also her interpretation of when the presents are supposed to be opened varies daily. In accordance with Hungarian costumes we usually open presents on Christmas Eve. She wants to open them the minute she sees them under the tree. Oh, yeah we do have a small tree.

She is in school now and they are supposed to have some kind of party. Actually the parties are during different periods. Tomorrow is the last day of school this year and I guess this Christmas thing will climax by that time.

I would be very curious to know if these kids know what Christmas is all about. Do they know the religious importance of it or they just care about getting presents. Actually also this applies to adults. Christmas became so commercialized that I bet many people don't even know what it is all about.

And I am sure it is not this way only in America but by now all over the world. Businesses are pushing the holydays and not the holydays are pushing the businesses.
