Conversation is an art. Unfortunately, the world is full of people who have no idea how to conduct a conversation properly and pleasantly.

There are people who want nothing just to hear their own voice. They are not interested in anybody just themselves. They don't inquire, they don't ask questions, they show no interest whatsoever.

They will ask "how are you" just so they can tell how they are and themselves are their favorite and only subject.

If one tries to tell a story that happened they will have a better or bigger one that they will force everybody to hear.

They will outshout everybody just to be heard.

These people will turn out to be bullies. They will force their will on others because they think they know everything better than anybody else.

It is utterly unpleasant to have a conversation with people like these.

On the other hand there are people who are pleasant, they would listen and conversation with these are really easy.

My Mother was like this. She loved to have conversation with people and everybody loved talking to her. She showed interest, she inquired, she asked and, she was genuine. And not because she was nosy. She did it because that's the way she was.

And I am trying to be the same. I learned from her, I observed.

I like to talk to people. I am interested in their stories, opinions, experiences. I know, I can learn from every story I hear.

Then on the third hand, there are those who are not interested in anything including themselves.

Talking to these people is like talking to a door knob. Can't even say in one ear out the other because I think it never gets in any ear at all.

People from the first category can never become psychiatrists because they can never listen to the patients.

People from the second category would make the best therapists because the have all the talent a good therapist needs.

People from the third and last category could not make good therapists. They would probably do their tax returns during sessions because they really don't care about anybody but they are afraid of the IRS.
