December 18, 2009

They say that children are our futures. If that is so, I would hate to see some of today's children in the future.

I can only speak of the New York area, but the kids around here are obnoxious, loud and have no consideration for anyone but themselves.

There is a public bus line near where we live. This bus runs by a few City schools. In the morning and in the afternoon these buses are filled with kids. They are loud, boisterous, pushing and shoving. They take at least two seats each and wouldn't get up if a blind man without any limbs got on the bus.

These are not small children, these are teenagers in their late teens.

I used to see them on the subway going home from school in the afternoons. A group of them boarded the subway car and practically took it over. Shouting to one and other across the car. Running back and forth between groups, laughing loud and just basically being extremely noisy and annoying and disrespectful.

These are the children I am supposed to make sacrifices for.

This week the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), a New York transportation agency, announced that in order to save money and make their operations more profitable they would eliminate the currently free student passes on New York City buses and subways.

Currently the subway/bus fare is at $2.25 each way with free transfers. For a school kid that's $4.50 a day not counting possible discounts.

Now, there is an uproar about these cuts. People claim they will not be able to afford such an additional expense.

Humbug! (This is a civilized version of "horse's petunia".)

Cut the amount of potato chips or any junk snack they eat, cut the amount of beer they drink and suddenly there is the money for train fare.

People have the tendency to complain about everything. Raise the prices, they complain. Cut the prices, they complain.

I'm glad I am not a politician because I wouldn't know how to make the people happy.

I would be very curious to see how many kids would drop out of school because the parents would not be able to afford the fare.

The parents complain because they look at the mandatory education as a nuisance. They didn't go to school so, they say why is it so important for their kids. Spending $4-$5 a day extra on the transportation would take something away from them and they would rather spend it on themselves then spend it on subway fare for their kids to and from school.

Don't misunderstand me. I don't dislike children. I love them when they are little and cute. What I hate is when they are in their middle to late teens because that is when their miserable attitude comes out. That is when they think they are smarter than everybody, they have an answer to everything and older people are not good for anything.

At that age is when they give in to their hormone driven urges and don't think of the consequences. Girls get pregnant at fifteen years of age and up without thinking of the future but complain about $2.25 extra subway fare to go to school.

Here is a sad story.

We know someone who is raising her daughter to the best of her abilities. She provides her with a nice home, and she goes to a good school. Since she is a single mother she has to work thus the girls is home alone after school. By the way the girls is 16 years of age.

The mother was convinced her daughter was not sexually active until they had to go to a specialist because of some problem. The doctor examined the girl and told them there was no problem, only that she was five months pregnant.

Well, the mother was stunned. Never expected it. Had all kinds of hope for her daughter to go to college and make a life. Now she will bee a teen mother. The only good thing is that the boy, yes boy because he is not even a man yet! stands by her and the boy's family will help with raising the baby.

Still, two lives are ruined because of stupidity of kids. Actually not just two lives, the lives of two families.

This is tomorrow's generation! These are the people we are making sacrifices for. For what? So they can make babies who will be on public assistance because the parents can or will not support them.

I'm so glad that I am happily married, I am not a golfer, I have no interest in other women and just thinking of an affair tires me out.

  1. To be a single mother is a carrier move here. Council will provide a flat immediately and many othere benefits will follow. We had an arab customer who could not cope with her teenager daughter. (She used to stay out late, mixed with the wrong kind etc.) The social worker the mother called on, in front of the girl, gace the advice, the girl should get pregnant, and then she could move out to accomodation provided free. Beat that!
Teengers are horrible here too. Of course parents have no methods left to rain them in and do it legally.
