Boxing Day

Christmas is over and the hype is finished. Now we can all go out and buy all our original presents at half price. Actually I heard today on the radio that some people return their gifts then rebuy it at a sale price and use the extra money to buy something else. Very shmart!

Our Christmas Day went very nicely. We spent most of the day home with our family. But then at 6:30 the rest of the family arrived and that was when we started dinner. We had a few drinks, plenty of food, good conversation. That is what a nice family get together consists of.

Today, the day after Christmas or as it is also known Boxing Day we decided to give Manhattan a chance.

So, early afternoon we drove into midtown Manhattan. After some serious search we did find street parking, not free though and started to walk around. By walking on Fifth Avenue we were lucky enough to see the light show at Sach's Fifth Avenue store. It was amazing. After that we walked over to see the tree at Rockefeller Center. Pretty good looking.

What really amazed me was the mass of humanity. It was solid wall to wall people. Cutting through the crowd was no easy task.. The area stores were swamped, the street vendors had lines waiting. I'm sure the mild weather also contributed to people being outside. We walked a lot and basically we had a great time.

It turned out that today is my name day which is something Hungarians do observe. My wife and Abigail (my daughter) bought me two beautiful presents.

After our City walk we went to the Hungarian pastry shop for some sweet stuff and then headed home. Well, not exactly! We stopped along the way at a very nice restaurant for a Name Day dinner and then really headed home.

A beautiful day with my beautiful family!
